WE'RE HERE TO HELP.

Consult the frequently asked questions below before reaching out.

THE BASICS

Q: HOW MUCH DOES THE TRAINING COST?

A: The training costs $125 / educator. That cost is applicable for life-time access to our training, curriculum and mats, if applicable.

Q: HOW LONG DOES THE TRAINING TAKE?

A: The training includes five hours of content. We recommend setting aside 10 - 15 hours of time for absorption, review and reflection, and additional time to practice the mindfulness and yoga practices included to become comfortable.

Q: WHEN DO I GET MATS?

A: Mats are available after completion of the training. Teachers that have completed the training will be invited to apply for yoga mats. Those mats are processed by availability and usually take about 6-8 weeks after application is received.

Q: CAN I PAY WITH A PURCHASE ORDER?

A: Yes. Visit our payment page to either download an invoice and send to your school directly, or request a custom invoice for a purchase order. We do not send access to the training until payments are received. Be sure your school includes your name on the payment so we can add it back to your account.

TRAINING DETAILS

Q: HOW OFTEN AM I REQUIRED TO PRACTICE YOGA IN MY CLASSROOM?

A: Our teachers aren’t required to complete a certain number of minutes. We recommend a practice of at least 10 minutes a day, but the application varies based on teachers’ schedules and space availability.

Q: I’M A SCHOOL TEACHER, BUT I’VE NEVER PRACTICED YOGA BEFORE. CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE?

A: Yes. We’re here to help you foster your own yoga and mindfulness practice as you extend it to your students. We do not require our teachers to have previous certification or experience.

Q: IS YOGA A RELIGION? ARE THE YOGA FOSTER TRAINING AND CURRICULUM RELIGIOUS?

A: Yoga Foster teaches a completely secular kind of yoga. What does that mean? We do not include any religious or spiritual ideas, concepts, or principles in any of our training, curricula, or resources. Like running, soccer, gymnastics, or swimming, yoga can simply be a healthy way to move and connect with our body and breath – and that’s how we believe it should be used in the classroom.

Q: DOES THIS TRAINING MAKE ME A YOGA INSTRUCTOR?

A: No. Yoga Foster does not provide any RYT or RCYT certifications. We’re simply here to help you integrate simple, easy movement and mindfulness into the classroom.

Q: I’M A PRINCIPAL / ADMINISTRATOR. HOW CAN I SIGN UP MULTIPLE TEACHERS AT MY SCHOOL?

A: Contact us at info@yogafoster.org for group enrollment, including discounts for more than 20 teachers. If you’re planning on applying for a grant, be sure to check “principal/administrator” on the application form and we’ll reach out to get more information about your teachers. Each teacher gets his or her own access to the platform, so we will need each teacher’s email to get them set up and track their progress.

Q: MULTIPLE TEACHERS IN MY SCHOOL/DISTRICT WANT TO PARTICIPATE. DOES EVERYONE HAVE TO APPLY? CAN WE SHARE LOGINS / ACCESS TO THE TRAINING?

A: We require each teacher who wishes to participate to submit an application. If any grant has been awarded to a teacher at a school, other full-time teachers at that school are automatically eligible for the same grant. We ask that teachers not share their login information, as it contaminates the data that we use for our reporting, which in turn allows us to apply for the funding that keeps our programming affordable to those who need it most. Anyone found to be sharing login information will be removed from the platform. We also offer bulk discounts for 10 or more teachers at the same school who enroll at the same time. Contact us at info@yogafoster.org for details.

Q: CAN I ASK FOR FUNDING FROM MY SCHOOL'S PTA / PTG? IS IT APPROPRIATE TO START A CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN?

A: Yes. We recommend Generosity or Go Fund Me.

Q: DO YOU PROVIDE CERTIFICATES OF COMPLETION? DO YOU PROVIDE PD/CEU CREDITS?

A: Yes. We are able to provide certificates for teachers who have completed the training.

We are proud to partner with Courses4Teachers to provide teachers with the option of earning a professional development/continuing education credit for their participation in the Yoga Foster programming. In addition to Yoga Foster’s 5 hour online training, teachers must complete 10 hours of related activities (research, reading, and planning) to earn 1 credit. Professional development credits, issued by Courses4Teachers’ partner institution, University of the Pacific, help teachers who wish to apply for salary advancement and/or renew credential requirements.

MATS

Q: HOW MANY MATS WILL I GET?

A: After you finish the training, we'll ask you to fill out a form that details how many students you have in your class. We'll send a mats for each student, up to 25 mats per classroom, and no more than 100 mats per school. We ask that teachers in the same school building share the mats among classrooms as needed. If you or your schools needs mats beyond this maximum count, reach out to us!

Q: CAN I DO YOGA WITHOUT MATS IN MY CLASSROOM?

A: Yes. Yoga Foster provides training and resources to do short Yoga Bursts, which do not require the use of yoga mats. Yoga Bursts are designed to provide quick movement and mindfulness breaks, and can be handy to transition between subjects, before/after lunch, before/after testing, and whenever teachers and students need a break!

Q: I DON'T WANT TO JOIN YOGA FOSTER'S PROGRAMS, I JUST WANT YOGA MATS. HOW DO I GET THEM?

A: Yoga Foster does not provide mats to organizations or individuals that are not part of our programs.

Q: WHERE DO THE MATS COME FROM?

A: Yoga Foster collects new and gently used yoga mats donated by individuals and retailers to provide to schools. These mats are often collected in the geographical area of the school that receives them.

GRANTS

Q: I/MY SCHOOL CAN'T AFFORD YOGA FOSTER. CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE?

A: We offer full and partial grants for teachers / schools as part of our commitment to making yoga accessible and sustainable for all schools, teachers, and kids. The Yoga Foster team reads and reviews every application individually (really!) and awards grants based on:

  • Need: We prioritize Title 1 public schools with 70% or more free/reduced lunch (must be in the US).

  • Program Design: Our training and programs are designed for teachers with pre-K through 5th grade classrooms.

  • Teacher: We ask that educators spend at least an hour per week with students (primary teacher; ELL teacher; special education teacher; PE teacher).

  • Commitment: The thoughtful application materials we receive from teachers are why we come to work every day!

Q: IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PAID AND GRANT-BASED PROGRAMMING?

A: Teachers / schools that receive a grant are guaranteed yoga mats from Yoga Foster. Teachers / schools that enroll without a grant may apply for yoga mats, which will be sent on depending on availability and demand.

A: The cost of the training and ongoing support covers all direct and indirect costs for Yoga Foster to provide that training for one teacher. By enrolling in our training, you help pay it forward for another teacher to participate.

A: You can pay via credit card for immediate access to the training; if you would like to pay by check, please contact julia@yogafoster.org.
